Santan Loquat Festival starts
Updated: 2013-05-21

The launching ceremony of the Santan Loquat Festival in Shexian county, Anhui province, will be taking place in the county's Loquat Cultural Square on May 23, when various activities such as visits to the loquat garden and loquat trading market will be held. The Santan Loquat Festival will last from May 23 to August 31. Aside from the launching ceremony, people will have a chance to enjoy other activities like a loquat-themed micro-photography contest, loquat harvest celebration and "Huiland in My Mind" creativity contest.

Various kinds of discounts from the county's tourist attractions will be available at different periods of time. For instance, all 4A scenic spots will offer half-off discounts on tickets on May 23. All A-class attractions will offer 50 percent discounts on tickets in June (excluding weekends and Dragon Boat Festival). Tourists can expect a 15 percent discount on all A-class spots in July and August.

Situated in the south of Anhui province, Shexian county belongs to Huangshan city, one of the birthplaces of Huiland culture and one of the six ancient counties of Huiland. It was recognized as a national historical and cultural city in 2006. Shexian county is one of the five largest loquat production areas in China. Its Santan loquat has a great reputation.
