Anhui boosts tourism commodity industry
Updated: 2013-05-15

Five regulators in East China's Anhui province have signed an agreement in Hefei, the provincial capital, vowing to boost the industry of tourism commodities, Anhui Daily reported.

Under the agreement, signed on May 10, the Anhui Administration of Tourism, the Anhui Economic and Information Technology Commission, the Anhui Provincial Department of Commerce, the Anhui Administration of Industry and Commerce and the Anhui Provincial Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision will jointly guide tourism-related enterprises by developing, producing and selling souvenirs and various specialties that are typical of the province either today or in the past.

The document stipulates that a service tracking system is to be set up in a bid to help major tourism commodity makers to deal with problems arising from production and marketing.

In order to increase the profile of Anhui as a tourist destination, the authorities also plan to arrange for local firms to attend national and also global expos.

Businesses will be encouraged to apply to register trademarks, and the agreementalso states that a province-wide campaign will be launched to single out branded tourism commodities.

In addition, the government agencies will stimulate the export of local tourism goods, partly by streamlining clearance procedures for qualified exporters, andboth employers and employees engaged in the industry will be given professional training, the document says.
