Built according to the first-class engineering standard of China, its under-span clearance is 24 meters, ranking first among the bridges of its kind in Asia and third in the world. The final completion of the structure has been of incalculable value. It has played an inestimable role in linking up the areas north of the Huaihe River, the Yangtze- Huaihe River Valley and South Anhui, plus the fact that it has greatly reduced the pressure of increasing traffic across the Yangtze River.
