ROME - Fashion designer Gianfranco Ferre has been hospitalized in Milan, Italian news reports said Saturday. He was in serious condition.

Ferre, 62, was hospitalized Friday and his condition worsened overnight, the ANSA and Apcom news agencies said. He was kept in intensive care at the San Raffaele hospital in Milan.

No other details were immediately available.

The hospital said it could not confirm the report, citing privacy reasons.

Ferre's decades-long career includes a stint as designer for the Christian Dior fashion house.
