Champagne won't lose its cool with oversized glass(Reuters)Updated: 2007-04-27 20:16 SINGAPORE - Love chilled champagne but hate the way it rapidly loses its cool in balmy weather? A renowned French champagne house has come up with a solution. Piper-Heidsieck, said to be Marie Antoinette's favorite tipple, recently launched in Singapore a goblet big enough to be filled with liquid champagne and ice cubes made from it. Using a special device, ice cubes are made by freezing champagne at -15 degrees Celsius (5 degrees Fahrenheit). The champagne is served in a glass called a "Piscine", or swimming pool in French, which resembles a large wine glass. |
