Christina Aguilera goes global in exotic new ad Updated: 2006-07-17 11:19
There was a time when circumnavigating the globe in 80 days was
considered quite an achievement, but pop diva Christina Aguilera has managed the
feat in just 60 seconds in a new advertising clip.
America's favourite songstress samples the delights of a series of exotic
cultures in Pepsi's latest publicity drive. The Dirrty singer finds herself a
Bedouin in the desert, dancing the samba in Rio de Janeiro, hitting a high note
in snowy Prague and shaking her booty in a Japanese geisha bar, before she is
transported back to the relative normality of a New York recording studio. "I
had a great time," said the chanteuse after filming the ad. "It was fun to dress
up and to be myself."
The chart-topper used to promote arch-rivals Coca Cola, but last year she
switched sides to Pepsi in a deal believed to be worth ¡ê2 million. She is just
the latest in a series of high-profile singers to represent the soft drinks
firm, as Britney Spears, Beyonce Knowles, Pink and Jennifer Lopez have all
appeared in previous campaigns.
