Terrific trio plays the heartstrings

The Major Trio, a group of three renowned Chinese soloists - violinist Lu Siqing, cellist Qin Liwei and pianist Sun Yingdi - will stage its premiere concert at the National Center for the Performing Arts.

Lu is a gold medalist in the Italian Paganini Violin Competition. Qin is a Decca recording artist. And Sun is a first prize winner at the Franz Liszt Piano Competition. Born in the 1960s, '70s and '80s, they represent some of the best Chinese classical musicians of their respective age groups.

The program will be Rachmaninov's Elegiaque No 1 in G Minor, Mendelssohn's Piano Trio No 1 in D Minor and Brahms's Piano Trio No 1 in B Major.
