Ink is the new black at Lisbon exhibition

More than 100 ink paintings from 85 contemporary Chinese artists are on show until Jan 10 at the Orient Museum in Lisbon, Portugal.

The works include both huge hanging scrolls and small hand-scrolls. They depict typical ink art subjects, such as birds, flowers and animals.

"The exhibition is intended to give Portuguese audiences a comprehensive idea about Chinese ink art," Chinese Artists Association chairman Liu Dawei says.

Liu's organization, Beijing's Rongbaozhai Art Store and the Chinese Embassy to Portugal in Lisbon organized the cultural exchange program.
