Jinniu district in Sichuan's provincial capital Chengdu has been placed on the Hometowns of Chinese Folk Art list, the Ministry of Culture announced on Nov 30.

The list honors counties and townships that promote grassroots cultural traditions.

Jinniu has been recognized for its sponsorship of local art photography societies. These societies have more than 300 professional photographers.
