The opening ceremony of Aniwow! 2011, the sixth China Beijing International Student Animation Festival, was held at the Communication University of China (CUC) on Oct 28.

Co-organized by CUC and Beijing TV Station, the annual event, helps facilitate communication between international and Chinese animation professionals, thereby identifying and cultivating more young animators.

More than 200 student works from China and 35 other countries have been selected to vie for the festival's traditional awards, including the White Poplar Award.

The four-day carnival also featured French and Austrian animation exhibitions and workshops with lectures by top-notch animation experts from Pixar and DreamWorks.
