Health problems will keep Russian conductor Yuri Temirkanov from leading the China Philharmonic Orchestra to perform Mahler's Symphony No 3 on Oct 18 at the 14th Beijing Music Festival.

The festival's artistic director Yu Long (pictured) will replace Temirkanov. Yu is also the orchestra's artistic director and conducted its June performance of Symphony No 3.

Those who have bought tickets can refund them where they were purchased.

The festival, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Mahler's death, will present all of the Austrian composer's symphonies, lieder and chamber music works from Oct 6 to Oct 30.
