Fashion Night Out

The global late-night shopping festival, Fashion's Night Out, will launch in Shanghai on Sept 11 at the city's bustling Huaihai Road.

This is the first time Shanghai will join 17 other metropolitan centers around the world, such as Paris, London and Milan, in a shopping extravaganza first started by style guru, Anna Wintour in 2009.

A total of nine malls along the road, and 50 international and domestic brands have signed up for the event, to offer discounts, free gifts and exclusive designs.

Culture Square debuts with B'way

Shanghai Culture Square, a brand new theater venue, will celebrate its opening with Ultimate Broadway, a gala performance of best-loved hits from Broadway musicals.

The show will feature leading Broadway actors such as Lea Salonga, Brad Little, Espoinosa Eden and Ria Jones. Director Paul Warwick Griffin puts the show together.

Pictures with old tales from the past

Zhou Haiying was the son of modern Chinese writer Lu Xun. He started taking photographs in the late 1940s and captured many images of life in the streets, and recorded the social changes from 1948 to 1954. He was very modest about his photography, but critics agree that his photographs captured unique evidence of those times in Darkroom of History.
