Over 80 diplomats and their spouses from more than 60 countries gathered in Beijing for a Chengdu cuisine training and competition, with Kung Pao chicken as the main dish.

In late September, more than 50 diplomats are expected to visit Chengdu, Sichuan province, where they will cook the dish and leave handprints to mark the occasion.

These are some of the featured activities of the 2010 Friendship Communication of Ambassadors & Madams on Knowing Chinese Culture.

The Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries started the annual event in 2002 for the purpose of enhancing the understanding of Chinese culture among diplomats.
