Suicide explosion rocks Afghan, killing 28

KUNDUZ, Afghanistan - A suicide blast rocked Kunduz province leaving 28 people dead and 36 injured on Monday, spokesman for provincial administration Mahboubullah Sayedi said.

"It was a suicide attack targeted the Registration and Census department in Imam Sahib district at 12:15 pm local time which left 28 innocent civilians dead and 36 injured," Sayedi told Xinhua.

There are several women and children among the dead and those received injuries in the blast, he said.

However, eye-witnesses said that the casualties could be higher than reported.
