NANCHANG - Seventy-seven people were hospitalized after eating lobsters in a city in East China's Jiangxi province, local authorities said Friday.

The residents of the city of Ruichang suffered vomiting and diarrhea after attending a lobster feast Thursday night. The hospitalized residents are all in stable condition.

It is believed that the diners might've been sickened by E coli contamination, according to doctors at the Ruichang People's Hospital.

Local authorities are continuing to investigate the case.
