The First International Mobile Micro Film Competition is to open July 25, 2011 in Beijing.（http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/2011immfc/）

The purpose of the competition is to collect original micromovies shot by netizens and cell phone users from all over the world. Participants can submit work from any genre and any theme to have the chance to win prizes.

As an important component of the “Macworld Talent Audition Series”, which promotes and develops the spirit of “wheat awn” — pioneering, reforming and innovating — among Macworld talents, the contest is jointly sponsored by China Daily Website and Macworld Asia 2011, and with assistance from Edifier, Skype, COLDSTONE, Haoledi KTV, VELO and Hosa Fitness.

Works submitted to the contest will be classified into two types: works shot with a cell phone and works shot with other camera equipment. Both types are required to be under three minutes in length and to be played on a cell phone terminal.

The contest cooperates with the Tencent Microblog, where its official web page is posted. From July 25 to September 11, participants need  only to open a Tencent Microblog account to upload an original micromovie or to link it with the official web page. By logging in to the web page, Internet users can watch, transmit and make comments on all submitted works. The prizes include an M11 speaker provided by Edifier and two 100-yuan vouchers offered by Haoledi KTV.

The award ceremony for the contest will take place during the Macworld Asia 2011 Fair. Six awards will be given to the top entries in the following categories: Golden Apple Award, Award for Imaginative Story, Award for Best Film Editing, Award for Best Director, Award for Best Visual Effects and Award for Best Performer.

As an effort by China Daily Website to make the event an authoritative competition of mobile micromovies, the jury consists of domestic and foreign professionals in various sectors including media, film-teaching, film review and mobile micromovies. They will make professional and comprehensive evaluations on all entries in respect of plot, scenes, sound effects and post production. The contest will provide amateur makers of mobile micromovies with a new development platform. The event is expected to bring the development of mobile micromovies into a new era.
