Workers found over 300 grenades and landmines at a construction site near Beijing North Railway Station, the People.com.cn reported Wednesday.
Policemen and special explosive disposal staffers were sent to clear the site. The weapons were thought to be left over from before 1949.
A nearby resident surnamed Li, said locals believed the site was used as a Japanese army camp during the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, but officials have not confirmed this.
