BEIJING - Chinese shares closed higher Thursday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 19.63 points, or 0.65 percent, to 3,026.67.

The Shenzhen Component Index rose 44.91 points, or 0.35 percent, to 12,798.75.
