Guangdong's foreign trade up nearly 36%

BEIJING - South China's Guangdong province generated $125.42 billion in foreign trade in the first two months of this year, a growth of 35.5 percent on the same period of last year, the local customs house said Tuesday.

The growth rate was 7.2 percentage points higher than the national average of 28.3 percent.

Of the total trade volume, foreign-funded companies accounted for 61.2 percent, or $76.7 billion, up 41 percent year-on-year.

Exports included $810 million worth of toys, up 13.5 percent year-on-year and $380 million worth of auto parts, up 24 percent.
