South Korea's POSCO, the world's No 3 steelmaker, said on Tuesday that it plans to build a steel galvanising plant in China with an annual output capacity of 450,000 tons.

The company plans to begin construction of the continuous galvanising line producing steel products for automobiles in the southeastern province of Guangdong in the second quarter of next year, in a bid to tap into the world's biggest auto market, a POSCO spokesperson said, without disclosing the investment for the facility.

POSCO planned to start production at the plant in 2013 after completion in 2012, the spokesperson said.
