Chinese stocks fall for second day with thin trading

BEIJING - Chinese equities edged down Thursday, falling for the second consecutive day, with the trading volumes sharply down from the previous day.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index edged down 0.12 percent, or 3.13 points, to end at 2,566.75. The Shenzhen Stock Exchange closed at 10,250.9 points, down 5.37 points, or 0.05 percent.

Aggregate turnover was 101.9 billion yuan ($14.96 billion), down from 124.71 billion yuan on the previous trading day.

Losers outnumbered gainers by 458 to 392 in Shanghai but gainers outnumbered losers by 522 to 423 in Shenzhen.
