Hsu, an industry veteran who also served as vice president for Ford's China operations, assumed his new role at Geely last week, the Chinese company said in a statement over the weekend.

In March, Geely, parent of Geely Automobile Holdings, signed an agreement to take over Ford's Volvo car business for $1.8 billion, marking China's largest overseas auto acquisition ever. The two sides aimed to close the deal in the third quarter.

Geely is now optimizing its management structure to be better prepared for fast development of its global operations, it added.
