Since 2008, a great many factory buildings and high-rises have been built one after another in a boundless Gobi desert on the southern border of the Junggar Basin.
The previous waste, remote and desolate land, is now unprecedentedly robust with people coming in and construction programs with roaring modern machines in operation.
Ganquanpu industrial park, the largest of its kind in Xinjiang with 360 square kilometers planned area and 178 square kilometers construction area, is picking up speed in development.
On this promising land, the Urumqi high-tech development zone is exerting all efforts to cultivate the industrial park into a core and a demonstration area for new industrialized development. It aims to foster three to four industrial groups, with over 10 billion yuan annual outputs, in three to five years, so as to generate 30 billion yuan industrial outputs. This has been done on the basis of achievements since 2008, under the guidance of the Xinjiang autonomous regional Party committee and government, and Urumqi municipal Party committee and government. In this way, the park will ultimately realize its objective of achieving successful development and entering the market.
