The industrial park in the northern part of the high-tech development zone was constructed in 2005 and was approved by the Xinjiang government and regional Party committee, and the Urumchi municipal Party committee and government in 2004. Situated in the northern suburb of Urumchi city, the industrial park covers an area of 12.35 square kilometers. It borders the Turpan-Urumchi-Dahuangshan highway in the east, Dongzhan Road (renamed as Wenguang Road) in the west, covering Xinjiang Zhonghe Co Ltd Wenguang Railway in the south and Midong District in the north. The second stage project of the industrial park is separated by the Urumchi-Changji Highway. An area of 3.28 square kilometers to the east of the Turpan-Urumchi-Dahuangshan Highway is taken by the Hualing industrial park. The number of workers is only about 8,000 in the park.
The industrial park is comprised of the first and second stage projects. The first stage project has completed its infrastructure construction. The second stage project is under construction, and is expected to be finished at the end of this year. Infrastructure construction for the first stage started in 2004. So far, all the 18 roads have been completed. The utilities for water supply, drainage, power supply, communications and natural gas supply are ready.
The industrial park’s infrastructure construction began at the end of 2004. To date, the industrial park has invested one billion yuan to develop infrastructures relating to the road, gas supply, water, electric power, communication, heat, water drainage, and land leveling.
