During the 11th “Five-year Plan” period, the total value of imports and exports of Hekou Port hit nearly 30 billion yuan. Behind the data stands a picture of doing fair business, mutual benefit and reciprocity between peoples of China and Vietnam in the border area.
Statistics show that the 11th “Five Year Plan" period witnessed an total import and export value of 29.79 billion yuan in Hekou Port, an increase of 18.36 billion yuan or of 160.6 percent year on year, accounting for one-seventh of Yunnan province's foreign trade volume; import and export freight volume of 9.415 million tons, an increase of 3.451 million tons or of 57.9 percent, ranking first for seven consecutive years in the province; entry-exit volume of 17.484 million visits, up 7.497 million, or 75.1 percent, ranking second among all ports of the province; entry-exit transport vehicles of 574,000 units, up 239,000 units or 83.9 percent, listing second in ports of the province.
In the first quarter of the year, import and export cargo volume of Hekou Port reached 620,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 90.5 percent; general trade import and export value of 1.27 billion yuan, up 45.3 percent; small-amount border trade export value of 460 million yuan , an increase of 2.4 times; free trade with ASEAN member countries amounted to 136.57 million USD, up 28.3 percent, of which 135.85 million USD were made by trading with Vietnam, an increase of 36.2 percent, taking 99.4 percent of market share between Hekou Port and ASEAN.
