Andres Jimenez has been living and working in Sanya, Hainan province, since February 2013, and the established chef from Costa Rica has never considered leaving.

The coastal city's tropical scenery and its climate are just like that in his hometown, which he enjoys.

But more importantly, as executive chef with Ritz-Carlton Sanya, Yalong Bay, he feels the commitment to "put Sanya on to the global map".

"Sanya has beautiful scenery and a great variety of produce, but it is still undiscovered on the global map as a tourism destination," Jimenez says.
