Ruijin, in eastern Jiangxi province, gained its fame as the nurturing land for the Chinese communist movement. It witnessed the establishement of the first government, Chinese Soviet Republic, by the Communist Party of China in 1931. Therefore it's called the former "Red Capital City". It is also from here that the famed "Long March" started.

When you come to Ruijin, besides its beautiful natural scenery, one thing you should not miss, to learn the "Red" culture in China. Therefore, the museum is a good choice. The Chinese Soviet Republic History Museum covers an area of over 130 thousand square meters and opened last year. As Ruijin is one of the earliest centers of Chinese communist movement, the museum gathers a collection of sculptures of senior Chinese leaders who established the Soviet Republic. There are also exhibits of calligraphies and paintings which mirrors the history of China in the 1930s.
