January Jones will be a "great" mother, according to her 'Mad Men' co-star Elisabeth Moss.

The 33-year-old actress gave birth to son Xander Dane Jones on Tuesday (13.09.11) and her friends know she has all the right credentials for parenthood.

Elisabeth told Us Weekly magazine: "I think she's going to be a great mom. She's a very caring and protective person, and I think she's going to fit in very well with motherhood."

Elisabeth says the 'Mad Men' cast can't wait to meet little Xander and couldn't be happier for January.

She said: "We're all so proud of her and happy for her and she's doing really well. We're all really excited to meet the baby."

Before the birth, January - who has refused to name the baby's father and intends to bring her son up alone - said she was enjoying a period of "nesting" at home preparing for the arrival.

She revealed: "I've been enjoying a nice break.

"I've been in a nesting phase just preparing my house and stuff. I've had the luxury of a couple months off."
