Idris Elba misses kebabs when he is in Los Angeles.

The 38-year-old British actor admits he gets "cravings" for his favourite skewered meaty snack and is particularly sad that he doesn't get to visit his favourite food outlets following a night out with friends.

He said: "I crave a kebab now and then. And not only that but giving the kebab man s**t at 2am. 'Bruv, did I say garlic sauce? Sorry, you're gonna have to take it off.'

"You can't beat that Saturday-night banter."

The 'Prometheus' actor also believes socialising in the UK is much different to in the US and he thinks the environment in London is easier to chat with friends.

He told Shortlist magazine: "I miss pubs. Sticky carpets, velour cushions. There's something about an environment like that where you can talk.

"In New York, you'll get to a bar and think, 'What am I going to do, just stare at the birds that are walking by?' "
