Nail the TrendIt still feels like winter, but Shanghai's shops are in step with the runway world as fashionistas meld winter with spring for 2005.
At spring shows in Milan and Paris, the most noticeable trend was color.

Lemon yellow and lemon green and blue, pink, and sunset orange fused to strong metallic gold. Material from the 1950's such as chiffon, lace, satin and jersey are in.

First stop at Xiang Yang market on Huai Hai Lu to check whether the trends have hit here. Lemon yellow and pink, lemon yellow and blue scarves are everywhere including Chiffon scarves with intricate embroidery in shades of pink, blue and yellow.

Ribbon work and crochet add 1950's elegance. Skirts from that era are in too, with serious flares and volume in the likes of Oscar de la Renta.

For men, its shirts in light pastel shades of yellow and blue.

If looking to nail the trend, handbags are a must. Bright and funky, traditional bags made modern with eye catching combinations of yellow with navy and young manic eccentric bags with images and sparkles with little purses to match. Shapes are traditional and bizarre with funky cylinder shapes or triangles. Be daring is the motto!

This season shoes are adorned with metal and plastic details in every color imaginable, check out those by Ralph Lauren and Proenza and then stalk Shanxi Nan Lu. Anything rather mad is in! The new Adidas sleek yellow and blue trainers at Grand Gateway Mall (Xujiahui) will put you on the road to spring!

Only

Take a look in Parkson on Huai Hai Lu, the mannequins donned in Etam sporting lemon yellow and blue show the trend is alive. Leather jackets in lemon green and yellow by ONLY are fantabulous.

Trot on to Plaza 66 (Nanjing Xi Lu) to make sure Versace is full of yellow and pink, from cool tight yellow trousers with ornate black designs, to checked coats in yellow and black. Gorgeous soft pink dresses. Prada Shanghai has gone for chiffon and sequins, a definite follower (or trend creator...) for the 1950's infused feel. Escada has chosen to stick with the brightness of spring with lemon green and soft but opting for bright pink.
