The earthquake-hit counties in northwest China's Gansu Province have continuously received donations from all over the country since the twin tremors struck 22 towns in Minle, Shandan and Sunan counties last Saturday.
On Monday, the governments of east China's Shanghai Municipality and northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region respectively earmarked three million yuan (361,000 US dollars) and one million yuan (120,500 US dollars) for the counties. And 30 tons of relief goods provided by the Shanghai Red Cross arrived in Lanzhou, capital of Gansu.
In addition, 50,000 kilograms of rice donated by northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and a batch of relief materials from the China Red Cross, including tents and food, worth of 300,000 yuan (36,000 US dollars), are on the way to the quake-affected areas and expected to arrive Wednesday.
As of 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Minle and Shandan had seen 422 aftershocks. The injured increased to 49 and the deaths remained at nine.
