China is willing to make concerted efforts with the United States to push
forward their relationship of constructive cooperation, Chinese Foreign Ministry
spokesman Kong Quan said here Saturday.
Kong made the remark while commenting on the 25th anniversary of the
establishment of Sino-US diplomatic relations, which fell on Jan. 1 this year.
"With far-sightedness, leaders of the two countries realized the establishment
Sino-US diplomatic ties 25 years ago, unveiling a new chapter in Sino-US
relations," he said.
"Over the past 25 years, Sino-US relations have stood tests and achieved
positive progress." History has proved that the two great countries of China and
the United States, despite their differences, shoulder common responsibility and
share extensive cooperative basis on some major issues concerning human peace
and development, Kong said.
"A fine Sino-US relationship can benefit the two peoples and is conducive to
the peace, stability and development of the world," the spokesman said. China is
ready to exert concerted efforts with the United States to strengthen exchange
and cooperation in line with the three Sino-US joint communiques and the common
interests of the two countries, so as to promote the constructive and
cooperative relations between the two countries, Kong said.
