An explosion at a factory in south China's Guangdong Province Friday afternoon killed two workers and injured 15 others.

The explosion at a printed circuit board plant in Chashan Town, Dongguan City, occurred at around 3""I heard a muffled bang and then saw heavy smoke coming out of the plant," a resident living near the plant said Saturday. "About five or six minutes later, police cars, fire engines and ambulances arrived one after another."

According to the rescuers, one worker died on the spot while another died en route to the hospital. Fifteen are still receiving treatment in hospital, including two seriously injured.

"Judging from the scene, we tend to believe it's a chemical explosion, probably caused during repair operation," said Chen Yongguang, deputy secretary of the Chashan Town Committee of the Communist Party of China.
