Legislators lectured on foreign trade law
( 2003-12-28 10:54) (Xinhua)

Members of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature, attended a lecture Saturday to learn about issues concerning foreign trade legislation.

Wu Bangguo, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, presided over the lecture.

Wu told the legislators that the draft of the amendments to the Foreign Trade Law will be handed to the NPC Standing Committee for discussion. He said that he hoped that the lecture could help them better understand legislation concerning foreign trade.

Dr. Shen Sibao, the lecturer, from the Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation University, spoke on a number of main aspects of foreign trade law.

The existing Foreign Trade Law, which was issued 10 years ago, can no longer meet the situation following China's entry to the World Trade Organization two years ago, according to the professor.
