China's top legislator said here that parliamentary exchanges play a significant role in promoting relations between China and Israel, and the Chinese National People's Congress is ready to work with the Israeli parliament to push forward the relations between the two countries.

Wu Bangguo, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, told the visiting Israeli President Moshe Katsav Friday that the Chinese people have been friendly to Israeli people, and the bilateral ties have developed rapidly since the two countries forged diplomatic ties.

Wu said that the Chinese government attaches importance to the scientific and human resources cooperation with Israel, hoping the cooperation will benefit the two peoples and the progress of civilization.
