US treasury secretary calls meeting with Chinese delegation "very productive"
( 2003-12-11 15:47) (Xinhua)

US Treasury Secretary John Snow on Wednesday hailed the meetings with the Chinese delegation headed by Premier Wen Jiabao.

In an interview with the CNBC TV channel on Wednesday, Snow said US officials had "very productive" meetings in the last couple of days with Premier Wen and his economic policy team, adding that the discussions were "excellent."

He said US officials had laid out their views on a variety of issues during the meetings, adding that Chinese officials had reaffirmed their commitment to living up to the obligations of the World Trade Organization.

Snow said the two sides also talked about the US trade deficit issue.

"I was very much encouraged by those conversations," he said.
