Carbon monoxide leakage kills two in NE China
( 2003-12-08 13:40) (Xinhua)

Two workers have been killed and another ten hospitalized in a carbon monoxide leakage accident in Haicheng city of northeast China's Liaoning Province Sunday.

The accident occurred at about ten o'clock Sunday morning in Texin Fire-proof Material Factory. Four workers were poisoned because of carbon monoxide leakage when they were working in a spare gas pipe. Some other workers at the site were also poisoned when they went into the pipe for rescue.

The local government had sent experts to the site for rescue work right after the accident and a special team has been set up to investigate the cause of the accident.

Experts warned residents, companies and government organizations to pay close attention to carbon monoxide poisoning in winter as gas and stools are commonly used for heating in north China.
