Three arrested for fatal Shanghai bathhouse explosion

Police say an explosion at a public bathhouse in Shanghai that killed seven people was caused by tampering with a boiler, and have arrested three people on suspicion of causing the blast.

The tragedy occurred at 3"Police said that the seven dead included six women, all residents living near the bathhouse, and a male stoker. The seven injured were in stable condition.

Police have detained three people, who were suspected to be responsible for the explosion.

The bathhouse is run by a local resident, whose surname is Lin, and police said the bathhouse operator turned the ordinary boiler into a pressurized one, thus violating work safety rules.

Local officials rushed to the site of the accident soon after the explosion and more than 400 firemen and armed soldiers took part in the rescue work.
