On Nov 26, Deputy Mayor Dai Yongning declared that Nanjing would spend three years solving the problem of waterlogging and flood in the central urban district in order to make the work of preventing flood and draining flooded fields meet the great urban development requirements as soon as possible and to relieve people's trouble of being flooded.

Nanjing government will invest 364 million yuan in 78 projects. Aiming at the weakness revealed in flood season this year, the key of construction is to accelerate the construction of pumping station mainly on the north of urban district so as to improve the ability to drain water by machine in the whole city, progressively achieving the objective that the city does not suffer flood damage when the rainfall is above 200mm.
