China is ready to make efforts with the Maldives to further bilateral long-term and stable relations of friendship and co-operation in the new century. Chinese Vice-President Hu Jintao made the remark yesterday in his meeting with visiting Maldivian Foreign Minister Fathulla Jameel who is here as guest of Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan.Extending a welcome to Jameel, Hu said friendly contacts between the two peoples have started as early as hundreds of years ago.
