Experts told local media that most of the main tomb is located in groundwater, which is bad for the preservation of lacquer works. "However, it is possible to achieve their original appearance after drying, cleaning, strengthening and repair," an unnamed member said.

After a five-year study of the tombs, experts have declared them the best-preserved royal tombs of the West Han Dynasty ever discovered in China. They have the most complete structure, the clearest layout as well as the most complete ritual system by far. The archeologists plan to open the main coffin on Tuesday which may reveal the real status of the owner of the tomb.
