The 5th Bejing-Tokyo Forum wraps up

The 5th Beijing-Tokyo Forum, co-sponsored by China Daily and Japanese non-profit think tank Genron NPO, closed Tuesday morning in Dalian, Liaoning province.

The two sides carried out dialogues on various issues including politics, economics, media, regions and security during the two-day event.

Representative listened to speeches given by both sides' delegates and reports summarizing the five penal forums held Monday at the meeting.

A joint statement was announced by Yasushi Kudo, a representative of Genron NPO, on behalf of the two sides at the closing ceremony.

Secretary-general of the forum's organizing committee, Gao Anming, announced the successful closure of this year's forum.

The past four forums had been held alternately in Beijing and Tokyo since August 2005. For the first time, this year's forum titled "Sino-Japanese Cooperation in Global Economic Crisis" was held in a non-capital city.

The Beijing-Tokyo Forum is one of the most significant platforms for non-governmental communication between China and Japan. It is designed to improve the bilateral relationship and deepen mutual understanding between the two countries.
