Presidium of annual legislative session reviews key documents

BEIJING -- The presidium for China's annual parliamentary session on Sunday reviewed several draft resolutions, among other documents, and decided to submit them to lawmakers for deliberation.

The presidium for the fifth session of the 12th National People's Congress (NPC) held the second meeting, presided over by Zhang Dejiang, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee and one of the presidium's executive chairpersons.

The presidium heard review reports on the government work report, the implementation of the 2016 national economic and social development plan and the draft 2017 national economic and social development plan, as well as the implementation of the 2016 central and local budgets, and the draft 2017 central and local budgets.

Based on lawmakers' opinions, 78 revisions were made to the government work report, according to a statement released after the meeting.

The presidium also heard review reports on the draft general provisions of the civil law, the draft decision on the quota and election of deputies to the 13th NPC, and the draft methods for electing deputies to the 13th NPC from Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions.

It decided to submit draft resolutions on the government work report, national economic and social development plan, and central and local budgets to NPC delegations for review.

A revised draft of the general provisions of the civil law, the draft decision on the quota and election of deputies to the 13th NPC, and revised drafts of the methods for electing NPC deputies from Hong Kong and Macao, will also be distributed to the delegations.
