Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Wednesday that China backs the UN-led international system.
President Xi Jinping's visit to Switzerland-based international organizations in January "sent out a very clear message of China's strong support for multilateralism and China's strong commitment to the UN-led international system", Wang said at a press conference on the sidelines of the National People's Congress held in Beijing.
The current international system was built from the ashes of the World War II, and still plays an irreplaceable role in promoting world peace and development, said the minister.
He said the international system is like a building, and countries should "renovate" it "rather than building another structure", while the system also needs to change to catch up with the changing times.
