China is a big importer of oil, while Qatar is one of the main oil exporters in the world. There should be more cooperation between the two in the oil industry. China's energy sources companies buy much oil and natural gas from Qatar. However, we want to be more than just a crude oil exporter. We are developing our own petroleum refining industry that is more profitable and sustainable. Qatar Petroleum International has cooperated with China's National Offshore Oil Corp and China's National Petroleum Corp on the refining industry by jointly setting up some refineries in China.

China's energy policy should be more open to the world. We hope the cooperation between China and Qatar will continue and deepen. When China's energy companies go out to the world, it should pay more attention to the cooperation with local counterparts.

Al Jazeera: Panchen Lama gains political role 01/03

Panchen Lama, picked by China as the second-highest figure in Tibetan Buddhism has been appointed to the country's top legislative advisory body.

The CPPCC, whose annual session begins on Wednesday, is made up of about 2,200 business leaders, religious figures, academics and celebrities. It serves in an advisory capacity to the National People's Congress, China's largely ceremonial legislature.

Panchen Lama is emerging as Beijing's choice to supplant the Dalai Lama as the public face of Tibetan Buddhism and has taken on an increasingly political role in recent years.

He has made appearances with Communist Party leaders and publicly praised Chinese rule in Tibet.
