Online registration for reporters wishing to cover Expo 2010 will launch in November, Zhu Yonglei, deputy director general of the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination, told foreign reporters and Chinese media on September 16, 2009, in Beijing.

Both domestic and foreign reporters can log onto the official Website to apply.

A new Beijing news center has been established for the Expo and reporters covering the event can now get information from the office at the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade.

A news service center is under construction in Shanghai to serve reporters during the six-month exhibition period, Zhu said. The 17,000-square-meter center will also include an international broadcasting center, offering HD signals to television reporters.

Zhu said that what Shanghai Expo looking for was to build its culture and spirit through daily operation. Visitors can enjoy more than 100 performances every day at the Expo site, including one by Spanish tenor Placido Domingo.

Zhu also revealed that more than 7 million tickets for Expo 2010 have been sold during the past two months.

China Journalists’ Association and Shanghai World Expo Coordination have organized five salons for foreign reporters this year.
