BEIJING -- Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping left Beijing Sunday to pay official visits to Singapore, South Africa, Angola and Botswana.
Xi was making the visits at the invitation of Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, South African Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe, Angolan Vice President Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos and Botswanan Vice President Mompati Merafhe.
Xi's entourage included Vice Foreign Minister Zhai Jun, Li Zhiyong, deputy director of the Organization Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, Zhang Xiaoqiang, vice chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), as well as Chen Jian, Vice Minister of Commerce.
Liu Mingkang, chairman of China Banking Regulatory Commission, Zhang Guobao, vice chairman of the NDRC and director of the National Energy Administration, Chen Yuan, chairman of China Development Bank, and Vice Minister of Science and Technology Wang Weizhong will join Xi during his visit to South Africa and attend the fourth plenary meeting of the China-South Africa Bi-National Commission.
