MACAO - Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met with Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region Chui Sai On in Macao on Saturday afternoon.
During the meeting, Wen said since the inauguration of the third-term government nearly a year ago, the whole situation in Macao was exciting, with stable social and economic developments and improved living standards.
Wen said the central government will continue to unswervingly implement the principles of "one country, two systems," "Macao people governing Macao" with a high degree of autonomy and the Basic Law, and give full support to the chief executive and the government of Macao SAR in boosting development in Macao.
Wen expected Macao to grasp the opportunities to achieve diverse economic development, which will help lay firm foundation for long-term prosperity in Macao.
Kicking off his two-day visit in Macao Saturday morning, Wen has attended the opening ceremony of the third Ministerial Conference of the Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-Speaking Countries, at which he delivered a keynote speech.
