Top legislator leaves for visit to 3 Asian nations

BEIJING - China's top legislator, Wu Bangguo, left Beijing Wednesday for official goodwill visits to Cambodia, Indonesia and Thailand.

Wu is the chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), China's highest legislative body.

The ten-day tour will end Nov 13.

Wu was invited to visit by President of the Cambodian National Assembly Heng Samrin, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Indonesia Marzuki Alie and President of the National Assembly of Thailand Chai Chidchob.

Wu's entourage includes his wife Zhang Ruizhen and Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the NPC Standing Committee Li Jianguo.
