BEIJING - Chinese President Hu Jintao Tuesday met with military representatives and praised their work in armament building.

The representatives were in Beijing to attend a working conference held on Monday on improving the combatment and safeguard ability of armament systems.

Hu, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), said he appreciated the officers' work and achievements they had made in China's armament system building in recent years.

Vice President Xi Jinping, who is also CMC vice-chairman, was also present at the meeting.
